Who we are
LaundryShare is made by Elias Piersig, Zurich, Switzerland ("we", "us"), who is responsible for the processing of personal data described on this page. LaundryShare helps people in a shared building book a laundry room's washers and dryers. Contact us at hello@laundryshare.fyi with any privacy question.
What we collect
Account information: your email address (for signing in), plus the display name and avatar emoji you choose and your language preference.
Laundry room activity: which laundry rooms you join, the bookings you make, any machine problems you report, and, if a laundry room turns on reliability scoring, a record of whether your bookings were collected on time. If a laundry room turns on anonymous mode, other members see you only as "Neighbor"; admins can still see real names to moderate the room.
Referrals: if you invite someone and they join and book, we record that so their laundry room can earn free LaundryShare Pro time.
Push notifications: with your permission, we store a device token used only to send you your own booking reminders and nudges from housemates. We never sell or share it.
Subscription information: if you or someone in your laundry room buys LaundryShare Pro, Apple, Google and our payment processor (RevenueCat) handle the purchase. We never see or store your card details. We're only told that a subscription is active and roughly when it ends.
Advertising: unless you have LaundryShare Pro, yourself or through a laundry room you're in, we show ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may use device identifiers to measure ads and, only if you allow it, to personalize them. In Switzerland, the EU/EEA and the UK you're first asked for consent through Google's consent form, and on iPhone you're asked whether to allow tracking. You can decline both and still use the app fully.
Our website: laundryshare.fyi uses no cookies and no tracking. It counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which records things like the page visited, the country and the browser, without cookies and without identifying you.
Why we use your data
We use your data to provide the app you signed up for: your account, bookings, reminders and laundry rooms (performance of our contract with you). Personalized ads, tracking and push notifications only happen with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in the app or your phone's settings. Keeping the service secure and working, for example preventing abuse, is based on our legitimate interest.
Who processes it for us
We don't sell your data. We use these service providers, only for the purposes above:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage, hosted in Frankfurt, Germany (EU)
- Resend: sends the sign-in emails
- Expo: delivers push notifications to your device
- RevenueCat: keeps track of LaundryShare Pro subscriptions
- Google AdMob: shows ads to people without Pro
- Apple and Google: app stores and payments
- Cloudflare: hosts the website and counts its visits
Some of these providers process data in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by the EU and Swiss standard contractual clauses or the provider's certification under the EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Frameworks.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Delete account, which immediately deletes it and the personal data tied to it. You can also email us and we'll do it within 30 days. We only keep what the law requires us to keep. Buying Pro through Apple or Google is subject to their own record keeping.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your data, and object to or restrict certain uses of it. Email us and we'll reply within 30 days. You can also complain to a data protection authority: in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU the authority in your country.
Children
LaundryShare isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and, where required, let you know in the app.
